Audit Trails & Certificates
How CloseRelay ensures document integrity and legal compliance.
Audit Trails
Every action taken on a document is logged in a detailed audit trail. This includes:
- When the document was uploaded
- When signature fields were placed
- When the document was sent for signatures
- When each signer viewed, signed, or declined
- IP addresses and browser information for each action
- Timestamps for every event
Audit trails are automatically generated and cannot be modified. They serve as a legal record of the signing process.
Signature Verification Certificates
Every fully signed document includes a Signature Verification Certificate appended as the final page. This certificate contains:
- Document title and ID
- SHA-256 hash of the original document
- SHA-256 hash of the signed document
- Complete list of signers with their email, IP address, and signing timestamp
- Verification status confirming the document has not been tampered with
Legal Compliance
CloseRelay e-signatures are fully compliant with:
- ESIGN Act — The Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act
- UETA — The Uniform Electronic Transactions Act
Every signature is legally binding and enforceable. The combination of audit trails, SHA-256 hashing, and optional OTP verification provides a robust evidentiary record.
